Drum Lids

Oil drum protection and storage for hazardous materials

You'll find it hard not to notice these bright sunshiny yellow containers designed to house oil drums. If you're worried about spillages and leaks which may occur due to damaged oil drums, pop them into an overpack drum for the ultimate in spill control.

Our range of Poly overpack drums and salvage drums are constructed from high density polyethylene which means they are resistant to the harshest of chemicals. Other overpacks are available in a variety of materials, such as steel or aluminium.

So, you may be wondering how you lift a full steel drum into the overpack. Naturally, a full drum will be quite heavy and for some, difficult to move without the aid of specialist moving and lifting equipment. But worry ye not, we have a selection of drum trucks and drum lifting equipment to do that job for you.

What's the difference between an overpack and a salvage drum?

An overpack is for use with undamaged oil drums or packages, and is used as a protective layer, rather like a crash helmet for hazardous packages with no defects! Salvage drums are intended to contain damaged items which may be leaking. They're also ideal for safe storage of hazardous waste materials such as used absorbents. Both have easy-to-use screw lids and no tools are required to tighten or loosen them.

It's important not to confuse the designated uses of these two types of container. There are a number of rules and regulations which must be adhered to when dealing with transportation of hazardous goods. Use of the incorrect type of drum may flout these requirements and could, worst case scenario, result in a hefty fine.

Poly drums suitable for heavy-duty industrial safety

So, if you're looking for somewhere reliable to store or transport spill kits and other emergency response equipment that you may need in a hurry, an overpack would be just the job.

Salvage drums offer excellent chemical resistance so you can put soiled absorbent pads and rags in them without concern. A salvage drum will include an integral sump to collect liquids from leaking drums and freight.

And, when your overpacks are not in use they won't take up too much room as they can be stacked.
