All SDS Plus hammer drills use the popular SDS chuck system and provide an enhanced hammer action over rotary impact / percussion drills. A pneumatic piston action provides strong hammer blows which are transmitted through the SDS Plus drill bit, enabling it to penetrate masonry, concrete, and brick quickly and effortlessly and without any force needing to be applied to the machine. As well as rotary hammer action, when used with an SDS adaptor, chuck, and appropriate straight or hex shank bit, all machines can be used in rotary only mode for normal drilling in wood and metal etc. Three mode models can also be used with the rotation switched off (Rotation Stop) to give just a hammer action, enabling chisels and points to be used for light duty chiselling such as chasing cable runs or socket cut outs in walls, removing tiles, and light demolition work. Inserting and removing SDS Plus drill bits, chisels, and adaptors is quick and easy.
